About 

Established in 2024 within the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Ankara Social Sciences University, the Department of Chinese Translation and Interpreting is the first and only undergraduate program of its kind among public universities in Türkiye. Our department aims to respond to the growing global demand for expertise in the Chinese language and culture and to train qualified Chinese translators and interpreters.

The Department of Chinese Translation and Interpreting offers an undergraduate education through a dynamic curriculum that combines both theoretical and practical training. Our current academic staff consists of one Assistant Professor and one Research Assistant, and our department continues to strengthen its academic infrastructure with ongoing development.

Our program not only equips students with language proficiency but also provides them with consecutive and simultaneous interpreting skills, supported by a strong technological foundation. The department houses two Translation Training Laboratories, equipped with 48 computers and two dual-user simultaneous interpreting booths. These facilities are designed in accordance with the EN ISO 2603:2016 standards recommended by AIIC (International Association of Conference Interpreters) and TKTD (Conference Interpreters Association of Türkiye). These labs offer a comprehensive educational environment that supports foreign language instruction along with written, consecutive, and simultaneous interpreting practice.

With academic programs focused on Chinese language and culture, our department aims to educate globally competent individuals. In this regard, academic collaborations have been established with various universities in China, and efforts are ongoing to develop student exchange programs and overseas study opportunities.

As the Department of Chinese Translation and Interpreting at Ankara Social Sciences University, our vision is to train competent graduates who can meet the growing demand for Chinese interpreters in a rapidly changing world and to become a leading and reference academic center in this field in Türkiye.
